The approaching winter storm has predicted snow of 20″ or more with gusting wind creating potential blizzard conditions.
We will be reducing vehicle availability across our services now through Friday, February 24, 2023. For both Evie Carshare and HOURCAR services, we highly encourage all members avoid taking trips Wednesday and Thursday for your safety and to reduce the risk of vehicles getting stuck or involved in a crash. Please check 511 online or via the app for current road conditions before traveling.
Evie:
We are removing a large portion of the Evie Carshare fleet from city streets. In anticipation of Snow Emergency declarations and difficult driving conditions, we are moving vehicles to off-street storage to help reduce ticket/tows, to allow for Public Works to better plow city streets, and to help maximize our team’s efforts to relocate available vehicles to proper streets. Demand is lower during major snowfalls, and we do not anticipate the entire fleet being removed. We will do our best to keep available vehicles evenly spread throughout the Evie Home Area.
HOURCAR:
HOURCAR hubs are all off-street parking. But remember, the vehicles still must follow on-street Snow Emergency parking rules during a stopover. We will not be starting hub clearing until the snow is finished falling. For your safety, we highly encourage that you cancel any reserved trips now through Thursday. If canceled 15 minutes or more before your starting reservation time, you will not be charged. If canceled during your reservation time, give us a call or let us know via email and we will refund you the trip costs if we can’t waive them beforehand.
Additionally, in our monthly newsletter, we announced the opening of Multifamily Electric HOURCAR sites in Bloomington and Richfield in late February. These sites will now be opened in early March as we focus on current Evie Carshare and HOURCAR services.
