Saint Paul, MN: April 2, 2024: HOURCAR, the operator of Evie Carshare, was awarded funds from the State of Minnesota’s Disadvantaged Community Carshare Act (SF 671). Signed into law on May 25, 2022, the Disadvantaged Community Carshare Act is designed to exempt nonprofit carshare services from the state-wide car rental tax and provide funding for carshare services in low-wealth and/or Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) communities.

“Today’s announcement highlights our continued commitment to connect under-resourced communities with clean, sustainable transportation. This award supports our mission, vision, and goals as we continually strive to develop our services to meet the needs of our communities.” – James Vierling, Head of Growth, Marketing, & Communications.

Funds will be used for operational and marketing support to provide Evie Carshare services to disadvantaged communities, including an anticipated expansion in East Saint Paul. Support includes staffing costs for a Community Engagement Manager, Marketing Coordinator, and other efforts to increase awareness and engagement.
