How to Download the Pilot App

Starting August 30, all HOURCAR members will be approved for the Evie Pilot. Where anyone can download the pilot app (directions below), you will only have access to drive Evie once you are approved in the system. 

We will be running the script to approve all members on Monday, August 30th. Once you receive an email of approval, you’re good to take a trip! 

To download the pilot app, follow the directions below. It will replace your current HOURCAR app with Evie Carshare. 

Android

NOTE: Our initial pilot required users to submit Android information to be included in the pilot. Shortly after launch, we discovered that Google Play wasn’t processing all applications, leaving people without access to the pilot app. On Tuesday, August 24, we changed the settings in Google Play to authorize access to anyone who wants access. Please follow directions below to gain access to Evie Carshare on Google Play. 

Download the app – Android 

This app will replace your current HOURCAR app and give you access to one-way Evie trips along with your existing HOURCAR access. Any HOURCAR trips you have scheduled will show up in this app. Check out the known issues in the pilot app if you have any concerns.  

  1. Uninstall the current HOURCAR app from your device 

  2. Go to this link that takes you to the Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vulog.carshare.sb.hourcar.prod 

  3. Scroll down until you see “Join the Beta”, and follow the prompts to join. If you don’t see this, please reach out to us so we can make sure you are invited to the beta! 

  4. Wait for your enrollment to process. This may take 15 –30 minutes. 

  5. Once the enrollment is complete and you are part of the beta app, download the app to your device. This app will show up with the name Evie Carshare.

  1. Log in to the Evie carshare app to use HOURCAR and Evie! Check out the Evie pricing before you drive to see what your rate will be. 

  2. Reserve an Evie immediately and get there within 15 minutes to start your trip! 

  3. Check out the Evie How-To and Evie FAQ to prepare. You’ll also find helpful instructions on laminated cards inside the vehicle. If you prefer screenshots of the app, check out this document.  

  4. End your trip inside the Home Zone in approved parking. Find our most up-to-date parking instructions on our Parking page.   

  5. If you find any issues with the app that aren’t on the known issues list, email AppSupport@HOURCAR.org  

iOS

Download the app – iPhone 

This app will replace your current HOURCAR app and give you access to one-way Evie trips along with your existing HOURCAR access. Any HOURCAR trips you have scheduled will show up in this app. Check out the known issues in the pilot app if you have any concerns.  

  1. Go to this link: https://testflight.apple.com/join/JqIAKnaV 

  2. If you do not have Test Flight, follow the prompts on the screen to download Test Flight.

  3. Once Test Flight is on your phone, you’ll see “HOURCAR” listed under Apps. Click on the app for more info or click “Accept” to accept the invitation to download the beta app and begin testing. 

  4. Once the app is installed, you should see your HOURCAR app has been replaced with the Evie Carshare app. There will be a yellow dot next to the app icon.
